Computer & Information Science

About This Page

Our library subscribes to many databases that provide citations, abstracts, and sometimes links to full-text articles. This page identifies useful databases for Computer and Information Science to which the library subscribes.

Computer Science Databases

Using a licensed database rather than a regular search engine finds articles in respected journals rather than miscellaneous stuff on the internet.

The Library at UMass Dartmouth has subscriptions to two massive collections of full-text documents from two major societies covering the literature of Computer and Information Science.  You will find references to documents published by these two societies in all the other databases, without the full-text attached.  In the two collections below you can locate that desired full text.  The two societies are ACM and IEEE.

You may get good results by searching for words as you would in Google, but these databases have specialized index terms that will give you stellar results if you learn how to search properly.

ALWAYS USE THE ADVANCED SEARCH OPTION. IF THE DATABASE SUPPLIES SUBJECT HEADINGS, USE THEM.
