History

This guide provides general information on library and other resources for the study of history other than American History. Guides created for particular courses provide more specific and extensive resources for that subject area

Interlibrary Loan

This page provides information and links for submitting interlibrary loan requests. Interlibrary loan is the system for requesting materials--books and journal articles--not owned by  the UMass Dartmouth Library.

Borrowing Books from Other Libraries

You can request books by filling out a book ILL request form. As with article requests, the turnaround time is largely dependent on the loaning institution.  That said, you can expect an average book request to take about a week.

When your book arrives, you will receive an email notification.  You will pick up your books at the Circulation Desk, which is located on the library's first floor.

Note: Textbooks and other material (DVDs, CDs, etc.) required for UMass Dartmouth classes cannot be requested be requested through Interlibrary Loan.

ILL Article Request

To request an article, please fill out the article request form. You will receive an email notification when the article is available in Illiad. The turnaround time is largely dependent upon the loaning institution.  Therefore we can't tell you when you will receive the article. However, most article requests are filled within a week.

When filling out the article request form, be careful to complete the information accurately.  If you need help reading your citation (e.g., identifying the journal title, volume number, etc), please watch the Reading Citations tutorial or contact a librarian.
