Library Orientation Guide for Students

About

Integrating technology in a service-centered space, the Learning Commons provides support for research, technology and collaborative learning. We endeavor to provide seamless access to research and technology help along with direct access to a large array of information resources and productivity tools.

IT Help

If you need help using Learning Commons technology, our LC assistants are here to help!  And that's not all they do; they help students set up their laptops for wireless connectivity, troubleshoot technical issues and assist in using COIN. Contact: x8884

This page answers many questions new students have.

Research Services Help

Our reference librarians can help with all aspects of your research, including coming up with a good research question, finding books, articles and quality online sources, using Interlibrary Loan to get material from other libraries, using Refworks to make citing your papers a breeze, and much more. Check for your librarian subject liaison  who can answer more in-depth questions in your area of study.

Classrooms

We have three computer classrooms in the library.

Room 128 in the Learning Commons
Room 225 in the Scholarly Commons
Room 226 in the Scholarly Commons

Often these rooms are booked with library instruction sessions or other instruction.  When we are not using them for formal instruction, they are open for anyone.  We keep schedules on the rooms to let you know availability, but you can also check their availabilty in ReservIT.
