This guide provides a starting point for research in Biology. Here you will find suggested research materials in both digital and print formats. This guide will help with:

  • Evaluating different types of scholarly sources

  • Finding articles in subject-specific databases

  • Tracking down articles in Find Journals by Title if you are starting with a citation

  • Finding books (print and digital) in our discovery "system" ( the search on the library website), Primo, and then finding books on the shelves

  • Requesting books or articles from other libraries for free with Interlibrary Loan

  • How to cite your sources correctly

  • Best ways to contact librarians for help

Needing help to get started is perfectly normal! There are many ways to be in touch: you may send e-mail to reference@umassd.edu, call 508-999-8678, or use the chat box in the right column.
