Databases Citation Help

Many databases such as Westlaw, Lexis, and Hein Online will generate a citation at the click of a button.  This is also a great way to keep your research organized by cutting and pasting key passages and their citations into a word document.  Please note that the citations may not always be correct and you will need to double check them during the editing process for consistency.  But during the research stage, keep an eye out for these helpful tools:

In Westlaw, highlight the pertinent section and then right click, then click on "copy with reference".  Then use CTRL-V to paste the section and citation in a word document.

In Lexis, highlight the text you are interested in and right click and a drop down menu will appear.  Use the Copy (advanced) function to copy the text and citation into a word document.
