Bar Prep Resources at UMass Law

Spaced Repetition

Through UMass Law Library's subscription, law students have free access to two flashcard decks: MBE Boost and NextGen Boost. The spaced repetition platform is designed to use time and repetition rules to enhance your retention of the information on the flashcards. To access this excellent resource, follow the instructions below.

Registration Instructions:

  1. Go to SpacedRepetition.com → Plans → Subscribed School
  2. Click Purchase Plan (it will be free for you as a student at a subscribed school) and sign up using your UMass Law email so the system recognizes your access.
  3. Log in and click “Study Now!”

How it works:

  • See the front of a card, think of the answer, flip, then rate yourself 1–5 (1 = knew it worst, 5 = knew it best).
  • The algorithm schedules the next review at the right time so retention builds without cramming.
  • Best practice: Aim for about 10 minutes a day.

CALI.org

The law library subscribed to CALI, a legal instruction website for law schools. CALI provides a few bar exam success resources, including podcasts and eBooks. These are linked at the bottom of this box. To access CALI resources, please email lawlib@umassd.edu to receive a registration code.
