ARH 349: Architecture & Sustainability in American Post-Industrial Cities: In-Class Activity 9/18

Breakout Activity

The information you get from a specific resource will depend on the type of resource you’re consulting. We're going to split into 5 breakout groups and each group will look at a different resource and make observations about the type of information conveyed.

Consider these questions when looking at your resource. Be prepared to answer these questions back in the main Zoom room to help your classmates learn about your type of resource.

  • When was it written (or created)?
    • How is that significant?
  • What aspect/angle of the broad topic of the "history of New Bedford" is covered?
  • What evidence is presented (as best you can tell)?
  • Who created the information?
    • How is the source authoritative?
  • How could you use this source or one like it? Pick one and explain.
    • Background info
    • Evidence for your claim
    • Argument to employ or refute
    • Methods to apply
