LGBTQ+ Legal Research

This page links to journals that focus on gay and lesbian topics.  It is a good research strategy to narrow your searches by limiting to a specific journal.  For example, you might peruse the Gay and Lesbian Review to find all recent adoption articles.  By limiting to only this journal, you no longer need to include keyword combinations to retrieve only gay/lesbian results, only keywords for your additional concepts. Use the Primo search bar to the right to seek journals by title if you need a specific publication.  

• Each database (Westlaw, Lexis, Legaltrac, JSTOR, etc.) houses a different collection of journal titles.  
• If you come across a journal that you would like to search, type the name into the Journal Locator to discover which of our UMass Dartmouth databases can provide access.
• Even if a journal or article is not available through our subscriptions, don't give up!  Ask a librarian to get access through interlibrary loan.
• Often times, articles published by Springer, Sage, and Baker & Taylor have to be requested through interlibrary loan.
