Law Faculty Guide to Library Services

This guide is intended for law faculty to understand key services and resources available to them via the UMass Law Library.

What services are available to help me teach?

The librarians at UMass Law can provide a number of services to help you help your students succeed. These services include:

  • Suggesting legal study supplements for your students
    • The law library provides law students with access to hundreds of the most commonly relied upon study aids in print and digital format
    • Your Liaison Librarian can help you find a title to suggest from what is available or can try to purchase new materials for your students as needed
  • Appearing in your class for subject-specific library tutorials and legal research instruction
    • Reach out to your Liaison Librarian in advance to discuss
    • Law librarians are typically available to discuss library resources, legal research basics and strategy, and specialized legal research catered to specific topics.
      • For example, a librarian may be available to speak to an administrative law class about finding regulations and administrative materials or could attend a tax class to discuss key secondary sources for that practice area.
