Find Statutes in Westlaw and Lexis

Use the following databases to search by keywords and narrow your results by jurisdiction or practice area.

50 State Survey

Available through Westlaw, 50 State Surveys, is a useful tool for comparing state statutes.  Use this resource to search for legislation in all 50 states on a particular topic.  There are many survey topics offered, and for each, Westlaw provides a linked list to all applicable laws.

State Websites

State websites make general laws freely accessible online.   A Google search for the "general laws of name of state here" is typically effective. Use keywords to locate the applicable legislation.  Here are links to a few examples
