Portuguese-American Genealogy

A guide on some resources for those interested in Portuguese-American genealogy.

Getting Started

The most daunting part about genealogical research is knowing where to begin. It is our hope that, while we are not professional Genealogists, we can provide some basic information to help get you started. The two biggest obstacles to this process are:

1. Knowing where to look for the types of records that are most valuable to genealogical relationships.

2. Doing research in a language you are unfamiliar with, in this case, Portuguese.

The information collected here is intended to help you on your journey. Please note: we do not conduct genealogical research or provide transcription services here at the archives.
