Dissertations & Theses

While many dissertations are available online and/or in PDF formats, some (especially older dissertations), may not be digitized, and we will try to get a hard copy of the dissertation/thesis if available.

Please note: some institutions / authors restrict usage and distribution rights of certain material (such as thesis and dissertations), so there are occasions in which interlibrary loan is simply prohibited for specific items.

Getting Books from Other Libraries

Policies

Interlibrary Loan adheres to UMass Dartmouth Library policy regarding overdue circulating material. There will be a 25 cents per day fine on overdue items. Material recalled by the lending library, and material beyond three overdue notices (automatically recalled) will incur a $1/day fee. Please be sure to return your item prior to the due date.

Remember: Inter-library materials are not semester loans, regardless of UMD status, and are the property of another institution. If an extension of the loan is required, that decision is at the discretion of the lending library. Renewal requests must be submitted 1 week prior to the due date. Please request your renewals by sending email to the ILL department. You will be notified if the renewal has been granted (along with a new due date) or denied, as soon as the lending library makes a decision.
